How to Serve Easy Crock Pot BBQ Chicken
This recipe can be served in many different ways. My favorite way is as sandwiches. Using tongs or forks break up the chicken until it's all shredded. Then place the shredded chicken on buns or kaiser rolls and add a little extra bbq sauce on top. Can also top with some sweet cole slaw.
Or add the bbq shredded chicken on top of baked potatoes, salads or pizza. Place it in tortillas and make it into cheesy quesadillas or on top of some cooked rice.
Lastly, just enjoy it the way it is. Slice the bbq chicken into pieces and serve with your favorite side dishes.

Storing Crock Pot BBQ Chicken
Storing: Store any leftover crockpot bbq chicken in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Reheating: Reheat the bbq chicken in a low oven covered with aluminum foil, on the stove over low heat or in the microwave until warmed through.
Freezing: This chicken freezes great! Place the cooled BBQ chicken in a freezer safe air tight container or zip top freezer bag. Then label, date and freeze for up to 4 months. Thaw chicken overnight in the fridge.
Heather's Favorite Tools for this Recipe
- I love my crock pot that is programmable. It allows me to leave the house knowing the chicken won't be overcooked.
- These nestled mixing bowls are my favorite for prepping ingredients.
- These glass measuring cups from Pyrex are my favorite to use when measuring sauces or liquids.
- These kitchen tongs are my absolute favorite. They have little kickstands so you can set them on the counter without making a huge mess. Plus they can be stored hanging.
- I love these magnetic measuring spoons. They are easy to store and they have ⅛ teaspoon that a lot of measuring spoon sets don't include.
Tips for the Best Crock Pot BBQ Chicken
- Thawed room temperature chicken breast is best. Frozen chicken will add too much moisture to the chicken and bbq sauce.
- Double the recipe and freeze the extra for easy meal prepping and dinners later on.
- Make it an entire meal by adding some potatoes to the crock pot too. Add a layer of aluminum foil over the chicken and top with some cubed potatoes or whole potatoes that have been pierced with a fork. Cook as directed in recipe.
- Use a slow cooker liner for easy clean up!
