    • Sliced Cheddar Cheese
    • Salted Butter
    • Dried Minced Onion

    Substitution Suggestions

    • Sweet Hawaiian Dinner Rolls: If you are not a fan of the sweet Hawaiian rolls, you can use slider buns, butter rolls or plain yeast dinner rolls. Also, you can use large Hawaiian buns and make them full size sandwiches.
    • Shredded Chicken: I make Instant Pot Shredded Chicken for this recipe using boneless, skinless chicken breasts but you could use chicken thighs too. Or use leftover Crock Pot Whole Chicken. You can also make shredded chicken in the crock pot, use pulled rotisserie chicken, or even use canned chicken if needed.
    • Sweet Hawaiian Dinner Rolls: If you are not a fan of the Hawaiian rolls, you can use butter rolls or plain yeast dinner rolls. Also, you can use large Hawaiian buns and make them full size sandwiches.
    • BBQ Sauce: I like Sweet Baby Rays brand the best. Use your favorite bbq sauce or make homemade!
    • Sliced Cheese: I like the balance between Co-Jack and Cheddar. You can use your favorite cheese. Provolone, Pepper Jack, or Gouda cheese slices are all good options. If you want a little bit more smoke flavor you can use smoked Provolone or smoked Cheddar.
    • Salted Butter: You can use unsalted butter. If you do, I suggest adding ⅛ teaspoon of salt to the garlic butter topping.
