Stumped on what to make with the last little bits of ham leftover from the big ham dinner? This Easy Ham Salad recipe is just what you need! Made with finely chopped ham, mayo, and dill pickles! A perfect and tasty dip or sandwich spread!

As a kid, I remember watching my dad make this salad. He'd mount the hand grinder onto the table and turn away until the ham was all ground up. He even let me turn the handle a few times. It's amazing how food can bring back such vivid memories. I loved that ham salad he would make, and now I make it for him. I've adjusted the recipe so the hand grinder is no longer needed, however, if that is what you have at home you can most definitely use it. I have confiscated my dad's grinder and keep it in a very special place! I now make the ham salad with a food processor, and it turns out so good, just as good as I remember it as a kid!

What You Need To Make Easy Ham Salad

    • 3 cups ham, finely minced
    • 1¼ cups mayonaisse
    • 1 cup minced dill pickles
    • ½ teaspoon mustard powder
    • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

How To Make Easy Ham Salad

To finely mince the ham, I use a food processor. Place the ham in the processor and pulse until finely minced. Be careful not to make it into paste. The ham will look like crumbs when it's done.

Once the ham is processed, add it to a bowl with the mayo, pickles, mustard powder and black pepper. Mix it all together and chill until ready to use.

How To Serve Easy Ham Salad

This ham salad is delicious as a dip or sandwich spread.

    • Serve the salad with a variety of crackers.
    • Use it in between your favorite bread.
    • Smother it on a tortilla, add some shredded cheese and a few lettuce leaves, roll it up tight and slice it into pinwheels.
    • Serve it in a romaine or bib lettuce leaf for a lower carb snack or lunch.
    • Use it as a vegetable dip. The saltiness from the ham makes this a fabulous dip for raw veggies.

    Ingredients

    • 3 cups ham, finely chopped
    • 1¼ cups mayonnaise
    • 1 cup minced dill pickles
    • ½ teaspoon ground mustard powder
    • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

    Instructions

    • In a medium bowl, combine all the ingredients until fully mixed.
    • Chill until ready to serve.
    • Serve with crackers, veggies or in a sandwich.

    Notes

To get the ham finely chopped, pulse it in a food processor.
You can use dill relish, just start with ½ cup and taste and go from there. The relish has more moisture and and the juice from it will have more dill flavor which will alter the texture and flavor of the salad.
