Welcome and thanks for visiting my blog! I'm Heather, creator of Heather's Homemade Kitchen. I started this blog in 2014 as a way to share all my recipes with my friends and family. Now, it's my full time job and I couldn't be more thrilled!
I'm focused on sharing homemade family food, whether that be cooking or baking. I love to do both. I especially love making cookies! I focus on homemade foods solely for the purpose that I know what is in the food. Sometimes I'll take short cuts, but mostly my recipes are from scratch. The kind grandma used to make when I was kid. The kind of food that brings your family together to create memories with.
Zeffie was such a cute little puppy! That was in 2013.
I have an Associates degree in Graphic Design and a Bachelors degree in Child Psychology. I currently live in Northwest Wisconsin extremely close to Lake Superior. My hubby was born and raised in Wisconsin and has never left, yet! I grew up in the wonderful state of Iowa! Go Hawkeyes!
I have 3 kids: Bailee, Maverick and Ava (actually 6 if you count my dear husband, Chad, and my 2 pups, Zeffie the Blue Tic Beagle and Ollie the Beagle). They are my world, my professional taste testers, and they keep this family extremely busy.

Background
Growing up my parents held full time jobs plus owned two businesses in our small town. That is where I believe my love of cooking took off, along with cooking with my grandma and great aunt Lois. I had already liked to cook, as I was the one in charge of feeding my little sister while our parents were working.
Besides cooking for my sister and my favorite kids across the street that I babysat for, I started cooking in my parents' restaurant. Nothing fancy, just burgers and fries mostly. It must have been the whole commercial kitchen and the food prepping that did it for me. I just loved to chop food and prep it for the next day's lunch special. It has just stuck with me ever since. I still love to cook and prep food and someday my home kitchen will look more like a commercial one!

Fun Facts
There are very few things I dislike to eat, but I will share one with you... Olives! All olives. Not sure what it is about them, but I am not a fan. However, I love olive oil! Other than that, I'll eat almost anything or I will at least give it a try.
