    Ground Turkey Teriyaki Recipe Ingredients

    • Ground Turkey
    • Shredded Carrots
    • Soy Sauce
    • Honey
    • Sesame Oil
    • Rice Vinegar
    • Minced Garlic
    • Ground Ginger
    • Red Pepper Flakes
    • Corn Starch
    • Water

    Substitution Suggestions

    • Ground Turkey: ground chicken, pork or beef will all work with this recipe. Ground pork is absolutely delicious in this recipe, but to keep it a bit healthier I opt for lean ground turkey most often.
    • Shredded Carrots: Use different veggies or your favorites. Chopped broccoli florets, diced bell peppers, and frozen peas, green beans or mixed veggies are all great options.
    • Soy Sauce: I use low sodium soy sauce. If you need to avoid soy you can use coconut aminos.
    • Honey: I prefer honey in my sauce, but you can use brown sugar, coconut sugar or pure maple syrup. The flavor will be slightly different but just as yummy.
    • Sesame Oil: If you don't have sesame oil, no worries. You can use olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil or any other neutral oil. Sesame oil really amps up the flavor of the sauce so if you've never tried it, I highly suggest you finally do!
    • Rice Vinegar: Apple cider vinegar or white vinegar will work. Rice vinegar gives the best flavor though.
    • Minced Garlic: you can substitute with a teaspoon of garlic powder.
    • Ground Ginger: If you prefer fresh ginger, you can use a teaspoon of grated fresh ginger.
    • Red Pepper Flakes: You can use black pepper if you prefer.

    Serving Ground Turkey Teriyaki

This turkey teriyaki is delicious served over rice or in lettuce cups. Here are some yummy ideas:

    • White Rice or Brown Rice
    • Cauliflower Rice or Broccoli Rice
    • In lettuce cups or wraps. I like to use butter lettuce or romaine.
    • Over a bed of greens for a yummy Asian inspired salad.
    • Mix with cooked rice noodles or drained ramen noodles.
    • Top with some sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds, crunchy wonton strips or pickled red onions.

    Storing Ground Turkey Teriyaki Bowls

Storing: Store any leftover teriyaki turkey in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. I like to store the turkey and rice in separate containers.

Reheating: Reheat the turkey and rice in the microwave or on the stove over low heat until warmed through.

Freezing: The teriyaki turkey freezes great. Add the cooked and cooled turkey to a freezer safe air tight container. Label, date and freeze. Will stay fresh in freezer for up to 4 months.

Thawing: Thaw the turkey in the fridge overnight and reheat when ready to enjoy.

    • A meat chopper is the best tool for breaking up ground meat.
    • A box grater to shred your own carrots. I use mine almost every day!
    • A garlic press works great if you want to use fresh garlic and not have to chop it. I use a Pampered Chef one but this garlic press from OXO is a great one too!
    • These glass measuring cups from Pyrex are my favorite to use when measuring liquids!
    • I've had my Rachael Ray pots and pans since my wedding in 2010 and I love them. They've held up great and they're affordable. I really also love my cast iron skillet.

    Tips for Ground Turkey Teriyaki

    • If you like your meat extra saucy, double the sauce recipe and the cornstarch slurry.
    • Add a little water or chicken stock to thin out the sauce if it gets too thick.
    • If adding broccoli, chop the florets up small so they'll cook fast.

haven’t made the recipe yet, looks delicious, but I’m not seeing in the ingredients any cornstarch or water as you have listed in step 5…? Not sure how much to add to thicken my sauce…
