I have been cooking from scratch for decades, starting in my teens and gaining experience in restaurant kitchens and my own home. Simple, dependable meals like this have truly become second nature to me. Recipes are tested right in my kitchen with my family, and they know a winner when they taste one. My Midwest roots keep my cooking focused on hearty, approachable dishes that bring everyone to the table. If it is easy to make and gets requested again and again, you can bet it has earned a spot here.

Why We Love These Garlic Butter Chicken Bites

    • Quick to make, perfect for busy weeknights.
    • Made with simple ingredients you likely have on hand.
    • One pan recipe makes for easy cleanup!
    • Great for meal prep or leftovers the next day.
    • Reliable, no fuss recipe that turns out great every time!

Garlic Butter Chicken Bites Recipe Ingredients

    • Olive Oil
    • Chicken Breast, boneless and skinless
    • 21 Salute Seasoning
    • Salt
    • Black Pepper
    • Chicken Broth
    • Salted Butter
    • Minced Garlic
    • Parmesan Cheese

    Substitution Suggestions

    • Olive Oil: Any neutral oil will work. Avocado, canola, vegetable or grapeseed oils are all fine substitutions. I like olive oil because the little bit of flavor it has is the best.
    • Chicken Breast: Boneless and skinless chicken thighs are delicious in this recipe too!
    • 21 Salute Seasoning: I love this seasoning blend from Trader Joe's. You can use your own blend if you like. Mrs. Dash has a good blend too. Or you can use a blend of poultry seasoning and Italian seasoning.
    • Chicken Broth: A dry white wine is a good substitute. In a pinch you can use water too.
    • Salted Butter: Unsalted butter can be used. I suggest adding a little extra pinch of salt to the sauce if using unsalted butter.
    • Minced Garlic: This recipe is best with fresh minced garlic, but in a pinch you can use 2 teaspoons of dried minced garlic. Add it when you deglaze the pan so it has time to rehydrate.
    • Parmesan Cheese: I think parmesan cheese pairs so well with this garlic butter sauce, but you could also use Pecorino cheese, Asiago cheese or Romano cheese.

    2. While the oil is heating up, season the chicken bites with 21 Salute, salt and black pepper.
    3. Then add the seasoned chicken to the hot skillet. Spread the diced chicken into an even layer and sear, without touching, for 4-5 minutes until it has a golden brown color.
    4. Flip chicken over and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes.

    1. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and saute for a minute or until the garlic is fragrant.
    2. Now, carefully add the chicken broth and deglaze the pan by scraping all the bits off the bottom. Cook for a minute so the broth can warm up.
    3. Add the butter and cook until melted, while stirring, about a minute or so.

Heather's Favorite Tools for this Recipe

    • This is my favorite deep skillet and this cast iron skillet is great too!
    • These nestled bowls are great for prepping ingredients.
    • A box grater to grate your own cheese. I use mine almost every day!
    • A garlic press works great for fresh garlic. I use a Pampered Chef one but this garlic press from OXO is a great one too!

Tips for Garlic Butter Chicken Bites

    • Cut the chicken into 1½ inch cubes making sure all the cubes are about the same size. This will help with even cooking.
    • Use a large at least 12 inch skillet. It'll allow the chicken to cook in a single layer and make stirring a lot easier so there isn't any unwanted messes on the stove.
    • Grate your own Parmesan cheese. The already grated or shredded cheese in the store won't melt well.
    • Be careful not to burn the garlic. Sauté for only a minute or until fragrant and then deglaze the pan.
