Best Egg Roll in a Bowl Recipe Ingredients
- Olive Oil
- Ground Pork
- Ground Ginger
- Minced Garlic
- Low-Sodium Soy Sauce
- Honey
- Sesame Oil
- Rice Vinegar
- Cornstarch
- Tri-Color Slaw Mix
Substitution Suggestions
- Olive Oil: Any neutral oil can be used. For example: canola oil, avocado oil, grapeseed oil or vegetable oil are good options.
- Ground Pork: Pork is traditional in egg rolls so the flavor is more common, but you can use ground turkey, ground chicken or ground beef.
- Ground Ginger: If you have fresh ginger on hand, feel free to use it. 2 tablespoons of freshly grated ginger will be divine.
- Soy Sauce: I use low sodium. You can use regular soy sauce or coconut aminos.
- Honey: Brown Sugar is a good substitute.
- Rice Vinegar: You can use apple cider vinegar if needed or even lime juice would work.
- Tri-Color Slaw Mix: If you want to make your own mix, shred green cabbage and carrots to equal about 4 cups of mix.
- Variations: For a little heat you can add crushed red pepper flakes or sriracha sauce. You can also add chopped mushrooms, bean sprouts or water chestnuts if you like.
This easy recipe has all the flavors of a delicious egg roll but without the egg roll wrapper. A great recipe to add to your list of easy dinners.
