    3. Next, place the chicken wings on a sheet pan and pat them dry with paper towels to remove any extra moisture.

    1. Place chicken wings in a single layer in the air fryer. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may have to do multiple batches.
    2. Cook the chicken wings for 10 minutes.
    3. Flip the chicken and cook for another 10 minutes until wings are golden brown and the internal temperature has reached 165°F.
    4. Remove from air fryer and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.

How Long to Air Fry Chicken Wings at 400

Chicken wings will take approximately 20 minutes in the air fryer when cooked at 400°F. Depending on the size of your wings it may take a few minutes less or more. Use an instant read thermometer to make sure the internal temperature of the chicken has reached 165°F.

How to Make Chicken Wings in the Oven

Baking chicken wings in the oven will make the cooking time a lot longer, but it is an option. Preheat the oven to 425°F and roast the seasoned chicken wings for 20 minutes. Flip the wings and roast another 15-25 minutes until the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165°F.

    Storing Chicken Wings

Storing: Store any leftover wings in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Reheating: The best way to reheat the wings is in the air fryer. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F and cook for 4-5 minutes until warmed through and crispy. Only reheat the chicken once or they will dry out and become unpleasant.

Heather's Favorite Tools for this Recipe

    • I have a Nuwave air fryer and it does a great job. Any type of air fryer will get the job done.
    • These nestled mixing bowls are my favorite for prepping ingredients.
    • Long ago, I used to be a Pampered Chef consultant and I still prefer their baking tools and pans to any others. Their sheet pans are the ones I use the most. Find yourself a consultant, host a party and treat yourself to a set. Or the sheet pans from Nordic Ware are a great option too.
    • An instant-read thermometer is ideal for checking the temperature of chicken. I use the Pampered Chef one but this instant read thermometer from OXO is great too!

Tips for the Best Air Fryer Chicken Wings

    • Buy wings that are already separated into flats and drumettes. Otherwise you'll have to cut them apart.
    • If using frozen chicken wings, thaw them before hand.
    • Let the chicken wings come to room temperature before cooking. This helps with even cooking.
    • Preheat the air fryer. Preheating the air fryer will help the skin get the crispiest.
    • Pat the chicken wings dry before adding the seasoning. It also helps create the best crispy chicken wings by removing any excess moisture.
    • Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket. Place the chicken wings in an even layer with enough space between them so the hot air can circulate evenly.
    • Flip the chicken wings half way for even cooking.
    • Use an instant read meat thermometer to make sure the wings are fully cooked to 165°F.
