We are a split household on the mushroom front. Half of us like them, the other half despise them. So for all you mushroom lovers out there, this recipe is for you. The mushroom lovers in my house, including me, love these mushrooms. They are packed with flavor and have the best texture ever. They are slightly crisp on the outside and have a nice meaty texture.

Ingredients for Air Fryer Garlic Mushrooms

    • Mushrooms: Cremini, Button, Shiitake or Portabella
    • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
    • Garlic Powder
    • Minced Garlic
    • Salt
    • Pepper

    Best Way to Clean Mushrooms

There are two ways to clean mushrooms, in a bowl of water or with a damp towel. If you were told to never put your mushrooms in water, then I'm hear to tell you that you can. Mushrooms are 90% water so they aren't going to absorb much more water by giving them a quick wash. Add your mushrooms to a bowl of water and turn them with your hands. You'll see the dirt start to fall to the bottom of the bowl. Then promptly take them out of the water and place them on a clean towel and pat them dry. Alternatively you can use a damp towel and wipe the dirt off each mushroom. It is best to wash the mushrooms right before you plan on using them, not any earlier.

    How to Store Mushrooms

After you purchase your mushrooms and bring them home, it is best to remove the plastic from the mushrooms and place them in a paper bag. This lets the moisture out and they will last a lot longer in the fridge this way.

How to Make Garlic Mushrooms in the Air Fryer

First, if you need to, slice your mushrooms. Slice them all the same size to ensure even cooking.

Next, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, minced garlic, salt and pepper.

Toss the mushrooms in the oil until they are all coated.

Now preheat the air fryer to 375°. Once preheated, add the mushrooms and set the timer for 10 minutes.

Check the mushrooms and give the basket a shake. If the mushrooms are at your desired texture, remove. If not, air fry for another 5 minutes.
