Tender, juicy and flavorful beef is what you get with these Instant Pot Drip Beef Sandwiches! The instant pot does all the work, and if you don't have an instant pot a crock pot will do the trick as well!

Growing up, when I would go out to eat with my Auntie Lois, we would always go to the same restaurant to get French Dip Sandwiches. She would always make the comment that they should be called Drip Beef Sandwiches because that's what she called them. She was a hoot and I miss her dearly. I created this sandwich for her. She did get to have it before I lost her and I am proud to say that she approved of it as long as I called it Drip Beef!

How To Make Instant Pot Drip Beef Sandwiches

This recipe is so easy, its basically a dump and forget about it recipe. Plus, you can use your crock pot if you haven't hopped on the instant pot band wagon yet.

    Ingredients

    • 3 pound chuck roast
    • 2 cups beef broth
    • 1 teaspoon dried minced garlic
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon black pepper
    • 1 batch Homemade onion soup mix or 1 store bought envelope
    • 6 hoagie buns
    • 6 slices provolone cheese

How to Make the Shredded Beef in the Instant Pot

    1. Add the roast and broth to the instant pot.
    2. Sprinkle the roast with minced garlic, salt, pepper and the onion soup mix.
    3. Lock the lid and set the pot to high pressure for 80 minutes.
    4. Let the pot do a natural release. This will take anywhere from 20-30 minutes. If the valve stem has not dropped after 30 minutes you can do a quick release, but most times it will be depressurized by then. It is super important to let the pot naturally release, this step makes the beef tender and fall apart delicious.
    5. Remove the roast and shred using 2 forks.

    Crock Pot Method

    1. Add the roast and broth to your crock pot.
    2. Sprinkle the roast with minced garlic, salt, pepper and the onion soup mix.
    3. Cook the roast on low for 8-9 hours until the roast is tender and falling apart.
    4. Remove the roast and shred with 2 forks.

    Let's Make Drip Beef Sandwiches

Once the beef is done and shredded, it is time to make some delicious sandwiches!

You can use any type of hoagie or ciabatta roll you like, I prefer my Homemade French Bread Hoagies. If you like to toast your buns, do that before you remove and shred the beef. I like my buns not toasted so there is no barrier for the juices to go through, it is just able to soak right in!

Add a generous portion of meat to your roll and top it with the cheese. The beef is usually hot enough to melt the cheese, if you prefer it to be melted more, pop it under the broiler or in the oven for a minute or two. Watch closely!

Ladle the drippings into a sauce bowl or ramekin and serve with the sandwich.

Dip your sandwiches, devour and ENJOY!!!
