I have been cooking in both professional and home kitchens since I was 14, and making homemade mixes like this is one of my favorite ways to keep meals simple and flavorful. Growing up in the Midwest and now cooking for my own family, I focus on recipes that are practical, reliable, and easy to use in everyday meals. I test everything in my own kitchen so you can trust it will turn out every time. I love helping busy families skip the extra ingredients and still get that classic flavor they know and love.

How To Make Homemade Onion Soup Mix

    1. First, gather your 5 ingredients!
    2. Next in a small bowl, add all the ingredients and mix it all up!
    3. Store it in an airtight container or use it right away! I like to keep a batch in my pantry in a mason jar.

    1. If you are using the onion mix to make soup, add 4 cups boiling water to the mix. Let it set for about 5 minutes so the onion flakes have time to regain moisture and soften. Otherwise, you can add it to any recipe that calls for a packet of store bought onion soup mix.
    2. This recipes makes the equivalent to one envelope of store bought mix.

    Storing Homemade Onion Soup Mix

Storing: Keep this onion soup mix in an airtight container in a cool dry place. I like to store mine in mason jars in my pantry.

Make Ahead: You can make a lot of this ahead of time and store it for up to 6 months. I like to make each batch separate and then place in mason jars. I usually make 4 jars at a time and then store in my pantry.
