    Easy Homemade Guacamole Ingredients

    • Avocados
    • Lime Juice
    • Cumin
    • Garlic Powder
    • Onion Powder
    • Salt
    • Cayenne Pepper

    Substitution Suggestions:

    • Lime Juice: Lemon juice can be used in place of the lime and is equally delicious.
    • Seasonings: I prefer the combination of this season blend, but you can use your favorite southwest or taco seasoning blend. My Homemade Taco Seasoning is delicious mixed with avocados too.
    • Additional Add-Ins: Diced Roma tomatoes, chopped cilantro leaves, diced red onion or minced jalapeño pepper. All these add-ins add extra flavor and make it a yummy chunky guacamole.

    1. Next, mash together the avocado and lime juice until smooth.
    2. Lastly, stir in the seasonings.
    3. Serve immediately or cover with plastic wrap and chill until ready to use.

    Tips for Easy Guacamole

    • When choosing the avocados at the store, choose ones that still have some green streaks and are still slightly firm. They will ripen fully on your counter within a few days and become a bit softer to the touch.
    • If you can only find full green avocados and need to ripen them faster, place them in a paper bag with a banana or apple. They will be ripe within a day or two.
    • To store guacamole, cover it with plastic wrap. Push the plastic wrap down onto the guacamole to decrease the exposed surface area. Doing this will help minimize the oxidation process.

    FAQs About Guacamole

How do you keep homemade guacamole from turning brown?

The best way to keep guacamole from oxidizing is to add lime or lemon juice to the avocados first to mix it in well. Then follow with the recipe. To store any leftover guacamole, push plastic wrap down to the surface of the guacamole so there is no exposed surface.

How do you make guacamole so it will taste better?

Be sure to season the guacamole well. Add salt and your favorite seasonings. Some other additional add-ins that enhance the flavor are diced tomatoes, chopped cilantro, diced red onions or minced jalapeño pepper.

What is traditional guacamole made of?

Most traditional guacamole recipes are made with Avocados, onion, garlic, cilantro, salt, and jalapeño for a little spice.
