Garlicky Broccolini is a healthy side dish filled with a ton of flavor! Only takes minutes to make and is the perfect side to any weeknight meal!

Have you tried Broccolini? It's a tasty and healthy vegetable that is a hybrid between broccoli and Chinese broccoli. The stems are longer and more tender, the florets are smaller, and the taste is more mild compared to the broccoli you are probably most familiar with. It is extremely easy and quick to cook. The only downfall with broccolini is it's availability. I am only able to find it in my stores periodically, but when it's there you bet I stock up!

Items Needed to Make Garlicky Broccolini

    • 1 pound broccolini (equals about 2 bunches)
    • 2 tablespoons salted butter
    • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
    • 1 heaping tablespoon of minced garlic
    • ¼ cup water
    • salt and pepper to taste

    Why I Love Broccolini

    • Easy to prepare, all it needs is a few simple seasonings to make it great.
    • It's fast to cook because the stems are thin and the florets are small, which makes it a perfect side dish for a busy weeknight.
    • There is minimal waste because the stems are just as delicious as the florets.
    • It's easy but versatile. You can use just garlic like this recipe does, or you can add lemon zest, parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes, or drizzle with some honey and sprinkle with toasted sliced almonds. So good!

How to Make Easy Garlicky Broccolini

Gather all your ingredients and tools, and lets make a delicious and healthy side dish!

First, wash the broccolini and shake off the excess water. Trim about a ½ inch or so of the stem. Pull apart some of the stems if it is a big bunch.

Next, melt the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the broccolini and saute for about 2-5 minutes until the veg is bright green, while turning a few times with tongs.

Once the broccolini is a vibrant green, add the garlic and some salt and pepper. Saute for 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant.

Now add the water and spread the broccolini out as mush as possible in the skillet. Let the broccolini cook on medium-low heat uncovered until the water is gone and the broccolini stems are tender, about 5 minutes.

That's it! A simple and quick side dish that is full of great flavors!
