    • A homemade recipe with simple pantry ingredients you probably already have.
    • There’s no cooking required, so it’s ready in just minutes.
    • The flavor is fresh, rich, and perfectly balanced for any pizza topping combination.
    • It’s freezer friendly, so if there is extra you can freeze it for next time!
    • Perfect for busy weeknights, family pizza nights, or make-ahead meal prep.
    • Use it for more than just pizza! It's great as a simple marinara for dunking breadsticks or mozzarella sticks too! You can also use it in any recipe that calls for pizza sauce.

    Easy pizza sauce recipe ingredients.

    Substitution Suggestions

    • Crushed Tomatoes: If you like a more smooth sauce you can use a can of tomato sauce.
    • Sugar: Feel free to use honey, maple syrup, agave or even brown sugar. You can omit the sugar as well. I like it to balance out the acidity from the canned tomatoes.
    • Extra Virgin Olive Oil: I like to use a good quality olive oil for this recipe since I'm not cooking it. Any olive oil will work though.
    • Dried Oregano: Use your favorite seasonings. You can use Italian seasoning, Basil or a blend of what you like best.
    • Red Pepper Flakes: Can substitute with black pepper.

This recipe will make approximately 3½ cups of sauce. Which is more than enough, plus some, to slather over 2 large pizzas.

    Storing Homemade Pizza Sauce

This sauce will last 5-7 days in the fridge. I will put the extra sauce in a mason jar in the fridge if I plan on using it again within the week, otherwise I freeze it.

    Freezing Homemade Pizza Sauce

Place the sauce in an air tight freezer safe jar or container or even a zip top freezer bag. Label, date and freeze. It will last 3-4 months in the freezer. To thaw and use: take the sauce out the night before and thaw overnight in the fridge. Or you can submerge the sauce in a bowl of lukewarm water for about 30 minutes.
