Pizza Sauce Ingredients
- Canned Crushed Tomatoes
- Salt
- White Sugar
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Dried Oregano
- Red Pepper Flakes

Substitution Suggestions
- Crushed Tomatoes: If you like a more smooth sauce you can use a can of tomato sauce.
- Sugar: Feel free to use honey, maple syrup, agave or even brown sugar. You can omit the sugar as well. I like it to balance out the acidity from the canned tomatoes.
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil: I like to use a good quality olive oil for this recipe since I'm not cooking it. Any olive oil will work though.
- Dried Oregano: Use your favorite seasonings. You can use Italian seasoning, Basil or a blend of what you like best.
- Red Pepper Flakes: Can substitute with black pepper.

Storing Homemade Pizza Sauce
This sauce will last 5-7 days in the fridge. I will put the extra sauce in a mason jar in the fridge if I plan on using it again within the week, otherwise I freeze it.
Freezing Homemade Pizza Sauce
Place the sauce in an air tight freezer safe jar or container or even a zip top freezer bag. Label, date and freeze. It will last 3-4 months in the freezer. To thaw and use: take the sauce out the night before and thaw overnight in the fridge. Or you can submerge the sauce in a bowl of lukewarm water for about 30 minutes.
