    School Lunch Supplies!

School is right around the corner believe it or not! Many people have started school shopping so this is a perfect time to share my favorite school lunch supplies. I pack Bailee's lunch almost every day for school. This coming year I get to add Maverick to the school lunch line up as well! For some odd reason that really excites me! I'd rather know what my kids are eating. School hot lunches are not the healthiest and most of the foods are highly processed and we have been trying really hard to avoid processed food. However, I will give schools some credit because they have been trying to bring in more healthy options for the kids which is FANTASTIC, but I will still pack my kids' lunches. It makes me so happy to know my kids loved their lunch and want to help me pick out what they want each day.
(Ziploc, Yumbox, Thermos, LunchSkins, Rubbermaid, Lands End, Target or Amazon are in no way telling me to write this, I'm simply just sharing my opinions on these specific products)...

So, my first school lunch supply is the Ziploc divided containers and the Yumbox containers. They are leak proof and fit into most lunch boxes. They are also very affordable, dishwasher safe and survive a long time. I bought the Ziploc at Target, but I'm sure they are available at other major retails stores as well as amazon. Yumbox containers are available at yumboxlunch.com as well as amazon.

Next on the list is the Thermos FUNtainer containers. I use the water bottle and the hot/cold thermos. The water bottles are great because they keep the water or any liquid cold throughout the whole school day. I have never had any issues with leaking, unless you malfunction putting it back together the correct way after washing it... Oops! I did that once, water everywhere! I learned fast, never did it again! The hot/cold containers are great for leftovers or even oatmeal and keeps them perfectly warm up until lunch time. I also bought these at Target.

Another great school lunch supply I love is the LunchSkins reusable bags. These are great for snacks. I mainly use them for snacks because it keeps the lunch and snack separate and easy for the kids. They can just grab their snack bag from their lunch box and away they go. Plus, they are dishwasher safe and pretty affordable! I found these at Target as well.

You need something to keep the school lunch cold! I use the cheap Rubbermaid Blue ice packs. They're very affordable at only a couple bucks each or you can get a twin pack. These ice packs work great for laying flat under or on top of the container (Remember to lay them flat in the freezer though!). I also use a smaller animal shaped ice pack on days when warm leftovers are being brought. These work well because they can just rest on top or the side of the food that needs to be cold and it doesn't effect the warm Thermos. I believe I got these at Target too.

There are also some little gadgets that I like to use to make the lunches more fun for the kids. I'll make homemade "uncrustables" using the Wonder crust cutter thing and the Pampered Chef cut n seal tool. I also like to use the silicone muffin liners for an extra compartment in the container. The silicone popsicle molds are great for freezing smoothies, the kids call them smoothie pops. They fit great into the container and are the perfect consistency by lunch! I also like to use little cards with fun sayings and funny facts on them. You can find them all over the internet and even major retail stores.

Lastly, you need something to keep all these supplies in for the kiddos! I like the Lands End lunch boxes. They are a bit pricey, but they are durable so well worth it. Usually during the school shopping time they will be on sale so buy them then! I like these ones, because it fits the containers nicely and has a mesh pocket for the water bottle, which makes more room for the actual lunch inside the lunch box. The ziploc does fit into most lunch boxes that are square/rectangle. I'm goofy and carry a container with me when I am lunch box shopping just to make sure it will fit in the boxes the kids pick out. The Lands End bags work well, but so will many others! I bought the Lands End box from Sears one year, and online a few times from Amazon and directly from Lands End.

So there you have it! That is my School Lunch Supplies round up list!! These items make packing lunches every day easy and actually fun! Enjoy!
