Banana Waffles

These Banana Waffles are homemade Belgian style waffles with sweet banana flavor and a fluffy, golden texture. They are easy to make and family friendly, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or make ahead meals.

  • Grease and heat a waffle iron. Follow your waffle iron instructions.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the mashed bananas, eggs, vanilla extract and honey.
  • Add milk and whisk until combined and smooth.
  • Add whole wheat flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Whisk together just until combined. Batter will be slightly lumpy and that's perfect.
  • Let batter rest for at least 5 minutes.
  • With a ladle or ½ cup measuring cup, pour batter into waffle iron. Bake for about 3-4 minutes until waffles are golden brown, or follow your waffle iron instructions.
  • Serve with your favorite toppings and enjoy!

Notes

To keep waffles warm, place on a baking sheet with a cooling rack and keep in a very low oven (170°F) until all the waffles are made. Try not to stack the waffles too much because the steam can make the waffles soggy.
