These Banana Waffles are homemade Belgian style waffles with sweet banana flavor and a fluffy, golden texture. They are easy to make and family friendly, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or make ahead meals.
Grease and heat a waffle iron. Follow your waffle iron instructions.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the mashed bananas, eggs, vanilla extract and honey.
Add milk and whisk until combined and smooth.
Add whole wheat flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Whisk together just until combined. Batter will be slightly lumpy and that's perfect.
Let batter rest for at least 5 minutes.
With a ladle or ½ cup measuring cup, pour batter into waffle iron. Bake for about 3-4 minutes until waffles are golden brown, or follow your waffle iron instructions.
Serve with your favorite toppings and enjoy!
Notes
To keep waffles warm, place on a baking sheet with a cooling rack and keep in a very low oven (170°F) until all the waffles are made. Try not to stack the waffles too much because the steam can make the waffles soggy.
