Wash the broccolini and trim about ½ in off the bottom of stems. Pull apart the stems if the broccolini bunch is large.
Melt the butter and olive oil over medium heat.
Add the broccolini and saute until bright green, about 2-5 minutes.
Add the garlic, salt and pepper. Saute for another 1-2 minutes until garlic is very fragrant.
Add the water, spread out the broccolini as much is allowed, and cook uncovered until all the water is gone and the stems are tender but not mushy-about 5 minutes.
